The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared a period of national mourning to honour those who lost their lives during the recent Gen-Z movement. The decision was announced following the swearing-in of newly appointed Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

 

Minister Aryal directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect. He added that the exact date for the official observance of the mourning day will be finalized by the Cabinet.

 

The ministry also confirmed that families of the deceased will receive Rs 100,000 each to cover funeral expenses. Additionally, arrangements will be made to transport the bodies to the homes or permanent addresses of the victims.

 

During the swearing-in ceremony, Minister Aryal was received by Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, Inspector General of Police Chandrakuber Khapung, Armed Police Force Chief Raju Aryal, and the acting Director of the National Investigation Department.

 

The announcement reflects the government’s effort to acknowledge the sacrifices of those who died during the protests and provide support to their families.
