Kathmandu – Newly appointed Energy Minister Kulman Ghising formally assumed office on Monday and immediately took his first administrative steps.
Minister Ghising directed the recovery of outstanding payments owed to the Nepal Electricity Authority, marking a key financial decision in his tenure. In addition, he declared that he would not accept the customary ceremonial scarves, garlands, or coloured powder (abir) typically presented to officials during such occasions, emphasizing a simple and transparent approach to his ministerial duties.
Ghising, known for his prior success in eliminating load-shedding across Nepal, has signalled that his focus will remain on accountability and efficiency in the energy sector.
