The newly appointed members of Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s Cabinet are scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy today at 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held under a tent set up at the presidential residence, Sheetal Niwas, according to the President’s Office.

Karki, who became head of the interim government last Friday, finalized three ministers on Sunday. Former Finance Secretary Rameshwar Khanal will serve as Finance Minister, legal expert Om Prakash Aryal has been assigned the Ministry of Home Affairs along with the Ministry of Law, and former Nepal Electricity Authority chief Kulman Ghising has been given the Energy Ministry, with additional responsibilities for Physical Infrastructure, Transport, and Urban Development.

Preparations are underway at Sheetal Niwas for the swearing-in event.

Meanwhile, some youth associated with Sudhan Gurung’s group have expressed dissatisfaction over the cabinet appointments. On Sunday night, they staged a demonstration outside the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, chanting slogans and calling for Karki’s resignation.
