Newly appointed Minister for Energy, Physical Infrastructure, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, has pledged to donate all his ministerial salary, allowances, and benefits to a fund established in honor of those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement.

Speaking at Singha Durbar on Monday after assuming office, Ghising emphasized that he accepted the ministerial role under exceptional circumstances and did not wish to personally profit from it.

“The salary, allowances, and facilities I am entitled to as a minister will all go to the fund in memory of the martyrs of the Gen-Z movement,” Ghising said. He clarified that only security arrangements and official housing, necessary for safety reasons, would be retained.

Ghising, who gained recognition as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, has been entrusted with the portfolios of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, as well as Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development in Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s interim cabinet.

This move highlights Ghising’s commitment to honoring the Gen-Z movement victims while focusing on public service in his new role.
