CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has said that the Office of the Attorney General has been “stained in history” after withdrawing the case against Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Ravi Lamichhane.

Speaking at the 42nd Piskaar Martyrs’ Memorial Day program held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Oli claimed that there is neither rule of law nor good governance in the country at present. He alleged that people can commit fraud and still get cases withdrawn or even receive pardons, mocking the current system.

Oli questioned whether the Attorney General’s Office would repay the money allegedly lost by victims after the case withdrawal. He said Nepal is witnessing a situation where laws do not apply equally and governance has turned into “might is right.”

He also criticized the government’s silence over physical attacks during the Gen-Z protests, including an attack on Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, calling it a sign of growing lawlessness. Oli concluded that the Attorney General’s Office has become a matter of shame due to its actions.
