Gen-Z activist Miraj Dhungana has said that the Gen-Z revolt resulted in nothing but a meaningless election. Speaking during a protest at Maitighar on Thursday, he remarked that the Gen-Z movement held on Bhadra 23 and 24 yielded only an empty electoral outcome.

Dhungana said that those now calling themselves “new” are claiming the Constitution is excellent, but stressed that it urgently needs amendment. He argued that not only individuals but the entire system in Nepal is flawed. He claimed that the constant chant of elections is ignoring the sentiments of the youth and pushing the country toward endless elections.

He said, “It’s not just the individuals who are wrong, the system itself is wrong. There is a continuous obsession with elections. Ignoring this is pushing us toward never-ending elections. The problem is not only with people and leaders, but also with the Constitution. Some of the so-called new faces who earlier said the Constitution was unacceptable are now, as elections approach, saying it is excellent for their own interests. Their words have changed, but ours remain the same. After such a big revolt, we have received only a meaningless election. What change will this bring to our country? Finding a way out is difficult.”

He also said that the current Constitution even restrains those who genuinely want to work.
