The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) stopped falling on Wednesday after declining for two days.

After dropping sharply by 42.58 points on Tuesday, the index increased slightly by 5.38 points on Wednesday. It closed at 2,731.89 points, up from 2,726.51 points in the previous trading session.

Even though the index went up, total trading activity decreased. Trading turnover, which was over Rs 16 billion on Monday, fell to about Rs 14 billion on Tuesday and dropped further to Rs 11.49 billion on Wednesday.

However, daily trading remaining above Rs 10 billion shows that investor interest, mainly due to the election environment, is still strong.

On Wednesday, share prices of 141 companies increased, while 112 companies saw a decline. The prices of seven companies stayed the same.

Looking at sector-wise performance, the finance sector rose by 1.24 percent and the hydropower sector increased by 0.99 percent. On the other hand, the investment sector fell by 0.16 percent and the microfinance sector dropped by 0.14 percent.
