The Nepali Congress, a key partner in the CPN(UML)-led ruling coalition, held a meeting of its office-bearers and former office-bearers at the residence of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha on Thursday.
The meeting comes amid criticism from a section of the party regarding the performance of the government, in particular the Prime Minister's tendency of opting for "road shows" instead of focusing on public service delivery.
It also comes at a time when Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the chair of the main opposition, the CPN (Maoist Center), has been casting aspersions on the government and claiming that the government's days are numbered.
According to Prakash Sharan Mahat, the spokesperson for the Congress, the meeting attended by the party's office-bearers, former office-bearers and some ministers representing the party in the government discussed the agendas of the party's fraternal organizations in view of their upcoming meetings, the performance of the government, prospects for improvement in public service delivery and coordination between the ruling parties.
Asked to comment on rumors regarding a change in government, Mahat said: There's no such thing (on the cards).
