Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with US President Donald Trump during her recent visit to the United States. According to the BBC, the two leaders discussed a possible trade deal between the US and Europe.
President Trump said the trade agreement would be fair and balanced. Prime Minister Meloni also expressed confidence that the deal would be successful.
Earlier in April, President Trump gave a 90-day temporary exemption on tariffs to all countries except China and proposed lowering mutual tariffs to 10%.
After Trump first imposed a 20% tax on EU imports and then paused it for 90 days, Meloni became the first European leader to visit him.
