With the March 5, 2026 House of Representatives elections approaching, the government has decided to deploy the Nepali Army three months in advance. The move comes amid concerns over weak law and order, aiming to ensure a safe and secure voting environment.
President Ramchandra Paudel has approved the deployment, with preparations set to begin from mid-December. The Cabinet recommended the move on November 24, following a proposal by the National Security Council submitted on November 20.
Officials emphasized that the early deployment will help safeguard voters, election staff, and the overall electoral process.
