The winter chill has tightened its grip across the country, with the Kathmandu Valley waking up to even colder conditions on Friday. Early measurements from the Weather Forecasting Division showed the minimum temperature dipping to 7.0°C at 5:45 am, slightly lower than Thursday’s 7.4°C.
Meteorologists attribute the sharper drop to clear night skies, which cause heat to escape and result in colder mornings. Cloudy nights, by contrast, tend to keep temperatures slightly higher.
The Division will release the official minimum at 8:45 am, noting that the figure may remain the same or fall further. Minimum and maximum temperatures are recorded daily nationwide, with morning readings taken at 8:45 am and maximum temperatures measured at 5:45 pm.T
