Prime Minister Sushila Karki has decided to downsize her secretariat and advisory team, retaining only six members, according to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers spokesperson Hemraj Aryal.
Under the new structure, the secretariat will comprise: one Chief Advisor, one Public Relations Advisor, one Principal Personal Secretary, one Press Coordinator, one Personal Branch Officer (Photographer), and one unpaid Public Health Expert.
All other appointments have been revoked effective immediately. Principal Personal Secretary Adarsha Shrestha remains in position, while Sangita Shrestha has been removed. The move comes after controversy arose over Sangita Shrestha’s prior appointment to the secretariat.
According to the Prime Minister’s Advisors and Secretariat Management Procedure 2074 (11th Amendment, 2081), the secretariat previously had provisions for 66 positions, which has now been streamlined.
