Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is holding a meeting with Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in Bangkok on Wednesday.
PM Oli reached Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon for a visit in response to an invite from his Thai counterpart, marking the first official visit of Nepal’s head of government to the Southeast Asian nation. Apart from bilateral engagements, PM Oli is also taking part in the sixth BIMSTEC Summit.
Bilateral engagements are expected to strengthen ties between the two countries and expand areas of cooperation as the two sides are slated to sign eight MoUs—two at the PM level on tourism and culture and six involving non-government business sectors of the two countries—the MInistry of Foreign Affairs stated.
The day’s itinerary includes PM Oli’s appearance in a joint press briefing with PM Shinawatra and a courtesy meeting with Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
