The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has clarified that there is no shortage of cooking gas in the market, addressing recent rumours about supply disruptions.
Spokesperson Manoj Kumar Thakur stated that all petroleum products, including cooking gas, are being supplied regularly and without interruption. He urged consumers not to follow false rumours.
Despite this assurance, crowds have been seen at gas outlets in the capital and other areas. NOC warned that such panic buying could create an artificial shortage. Thakur also advised that purchasing too many cylinders at once could cause distribution problems.
Since gas is highly flammable, the corporation requested households not to store excessive cylinders, as this could increase the risk of accidents.
Thakur added that imports from India are continuing smoothly and that tankers and transport vehicles are operating normally, ensuring a steady supply to the market.
