Prince Harry has made an unannounced visit to Kyiv after being invited by Superhumans, an organisation that supports Ukrainians with life-changing injuries from the war, the BBC reported.
Arriving by train on Friday morning, the Duke of Sussex said his goal was to do “everything possible” to help the recovery of wounded soldiers and civilians. His full schedule has not been revealed, but according to The Guardian, he is expected to outline new rehabilitation plans during the trip.
Superhumans, which provides prosthetic limbs and rehabilitation, earlier hosted Harry at its centre in Lviv in April. This, however, marks his first visit to the capital.
Ukraine has tens of thousands of amputees as a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion, though official figures remain undisclosed. Ahead of the visit, Harry told The Guardian: “We cannot stop the war, but we can do everything we can to help the recovery process and humanise the people involved.”
The prince is accompanied by his Invictus Games Foundation team. Founded in 2014, the games allow injured veterans to compete in sports. Ukrainian athletes have taken part since 2022 with approval from President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Earlier this week, Harry and Meghan’s charitable foundation Archewell announced a donation of $500,000 to projects supporting injured children from Ukraine and Gaza. The money will fund medical evacuations and prosthetics for young people.
His visit also comes just two days after meeting his father, King Charles, in London, their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024.
