After receiving complaints about repeated power cuts during the evening over the past two days in areas like Patan, Syuchatar, and Balaju, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya asked officials to find and fix the technical problems.
Shakya personally inspected the affected areas and met with concerned staff on Friday. He has been working continuously since Thursday to resolve the issue.
On Friday around 10:00 am, he visited NEA’s Lagankhel East Distribution Centre and the Jawalakhel Centre without prior notice to check the situation.
Late Thursday night, he also met with senior grid and load dispatch officials at the Syuchatar Load Dispatch Centre. He instructed them to quickly identify technical faults and solve them.
Shakya said that after receiving complaints from customers in Patan, Syuchatar, Balaju, and nearby areas, he stayed late Thursday night with senior officials to find the cause and fix the problem.
He emphasized that the NEA is focused not only on supplying electricity but also on providing good-quality power. He asked people not to worry about occasional technical problems and assured that the Authority would act quickly to fix any issues.
The NEA also noted that with winter, electricity use increases due to heaters, air conditioners, and other appliances, which may sometimes cause minor technical problems. They assured the public that these issues are being addressed and asked people not to worry about load shedding returning.
