Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala shared a video message during the ongoing special general convention, stressing his dedication to party unity and following its rules and policies. He said he has always worked for the party, even when there were disagreements.

“I want to be clear: I have no personal ambitions. Opportunities for ministerial or general secretary posts have come many times, but I never sought them. Similarly, I have never been tempted by the positions of party president or prime minister,” Koirala said.

He added that the values he learned from his family guide his life and politics. Inspired by these principles, he stands firmly for the unity of the Congress. “Sometimes, I have had to question Sher Bahadur Deuba’s ways of working, and at times, young leaders have shown their dissatisfaction,” he said.

Koirala said he knows the Nepali Congress constitution well and submitted his vote in writing to the Central Working Committee during the special convention campaign.

“While casting my vote, I made sure not to create any divisions within the party. I understand the cost of a divided Congress. I will work for unity, not for division,” he said.

He added, “Even if I stand alone, I will not be tempted by positions once held by leaders like BP Koirala or Krishna Prasad Bhattarai. Can’t we come together and hold a convention that shows consensus, cooperation, and unity? Our supporters and the international community expect this from us.”

He addressed the convention representatives directly, calling them the party’s heritage and capable of uniting the Congress. “I have been working for this over the past few days and will continue until a solution is found. Moving forward together is possible only under the slogan of Jai Nepal,” Koirala concluded.
