With the upcoming elections declared a top national priority, the government is moving swiftly to strengthen security across the country. A central security committee meeting, led by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, is set to review ongoing preparations and policy measures.

Earlier, a high-level discussion at Shital Niwas, chaired by President Ramchandra Paudel, brought together the Prime Minister, cabinet members, and chiefs of all four security agencies. The focus was on ensuring a safe and conducive environment for elections and bolstering national security.

Officials from the Home and Defense Ministries, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department are participating in today’s meeting. The committee will assess the progress of a centralized election security plan and provide guidance where needed.

The security committee, led by Anand Kafle, head of the Peace, Security, and Crime Control Division of the Home Ministry, was formed after Home Minister Aryal assumed office. Representatives from all four security forces serve as members, with Deputy Secretary Ravindra Adhikari as member-secretary.

Once approved, the plan will be implemented across all districts. At the local level, District Integrated Election Security Committees, headed by Chief District Officers, will oversee execution to ensure safe and smooth elections.
