The five-day Tihar festival began today with the celebration of Kaag Tihar, a day dedicated to crows, believed to be messengers of Yamaraj, the god of death and justice.

Across Nepal, devotees offered food, particularly rice pudding, to crows early in the morning, seeking protection from misfortune and untimely death. According to Hindu belief, feeding crows helps convey good wishes to Yamaraj, inviting blessings and harmony into one’s home.

Special rituals and prayers were organized at Kageshwari Mahadev Temple in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality and the Kageshwari Temple in Hanumandhoka, where devotees gathered to mark the auspicious occasion.

Tihar, also known as the festival of lights, celebrates the bond between humans, animals, and gods.
