During Sunday’s House of Representatives session, Maoist Centre lawmaker Rekha Sharma strongly criticized the government for recent decisions affecting the public raising alarm over both healthcare policy and alleged corruption in staff transfers.

She expressed concern over the government’s move to make Rapti Academy of Health Sciences in Ghorahi a referral center, forcing insured patients to travel 24 to 25 kilometers for services they previously received locally. “This decision has added unnecessary hardship to the sick. I urge the government to immediately reverse it,” Sharma said.

Sharma also called for Prime Minister to clarify media reports alleging that the Ministers for Federal Affairs and for Land Management took bribes of up to Rs 7.8 million in exchange for approving civil servant transfers.

“These are serious accusations. What’s going on? The Prime Minister must brief Parliament,” she said. Sharma demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against anyone found guilty.

Additionally, she drew the government’s attention to a bus accident in Kapilvastu earlier that day, where passengers traveling from Kathmandu to Dang were injured. Sharma called for proper medical arrangements for the victims.
