The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has gone up on Saturday after falling for two days in a row.
The Weather Forecasting Division said that Kathmandu’s temperature was 6.8°C at 5:45 am today. On Friday at the same time, the temperature was 5.3°C, and it dropped further to 4.8°C by 8:45 am.
The Division explained that the official minimum temperature is recorded at 8:45 am, not early in the morning. So, today’s final minimum temperature could still be a little lower than the morning reading.
Earlier this week, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was 7.5°C on Wednesday. It then dropped to 6.2°C on Thursday and 5.3°C on Friday, before rising again today.
The Weather Forecasting Division measures minimum and maximum temperatures every day across the country. The minimum temperature is taken at 8:45 am, while the maximum temperature is recorded at 5:45 pm.
Meteorologists say that cloudy nights keep temperatures warmer, while clear nights make temperatures fall more. During the day, clouds reduce heat by blocking sunlight, but clear skies make the day warmer.
