Motorcycle Accident on Mechi Bridge Kills Pillion Rider

A pillion rider died in a motorcycle accident on Mechi Bridge in Mechinagar Municipality-6 on Friday night.

The motorcycle (registration Pr 1-01-012 Pa 3849) was coming from India towards Nepal when it hit a road barricade at around 10:00 pm.

According to Jhapa District Police Office spokesperson Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, the pillion rider, 40-year-old Chetan Katuwal from Mechinagar-6, was seriously injured. He was taken to Mechi AMDA Hospital in Dhulabari, where doctors declared him dead at 10:55 pm.

The motorcycle rider, 35-year-old Kashinath Paudel, was also injured and is receiving treatment at B & C Hospital in Birtamod.

The body of the deceased is at Mechi AMDA Hospital. Police suspect the accident happened due to overspeeding and are investigating further.
