The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has banned stage-based musical programs, fairs, and mass gatherings during this year’s Holi festival due to upcoming House of Representatives elections.
Assistant Chief District Officer Muktiram Rijal said the restrictions aim to maintain security, public order, and prevent the festival from being used for election campaigning.
A public notice urges people not to organize events in public spaces, sell or consume alcohol, or display election symbols, party flags, or candidate images on clothing or accessories.
The administration has also instructed citizens to celebrate respectfully, prohibiting smearing colors or throwing water balloons on others without consent.
