The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has urged supporters and citizens to vote for its Star election symbol in the upcoming House of Representatives election.
In a joint appeal issued by Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Co-Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, the party reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding democracy, the constitution, and national sovereignty, while fighting corruption and advancing economic and social transformation toward a socialist society.
The party paid tribute to martyrs and conflict-affected individuals and warned against external interference and instability that could threaten national unity. It pledged to protect federalism, inclusive representation, and the constitutional system, stating that democracy is the foundation of development and stability.
Calling the current electoral system expensive and complex, the CPN promised reforms to make it simpler, more transparent, and cost-effective. It also committed to strengthening good governance, taking strict action against corruption, forming a property investigation commission, and upholding the principle of separation of powers.
Economically, the party outlined plans to boost production, agriculture, industry, energy, tourism, and employment, reduce dependence on imports, implement financial reforms, and adopt a progressive tax system. It also pledged to protect natural resources, promote sustainable development, prioritize national interest in foreign policy, and review unequal treaties.
Concluding the appeal, the party stated: “We changed the system; now we will change the condition. Others may talk, we work. We will correct past shortcomings and move forward.”
