Rampukar Sah, the mayor of Kalyanpur Municipality in Siraha, has been arrested while taking a bribe. A team from the Bardibas office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) caught him red-handed on Tuesday afternoon with one lakh rupees in cash at the municipal office premises.
According to the CIAA, Mayor Sah was accepting the bribe during the payment process related to a consumer committee project. The anti-corruption team acted on a tip-off and apprehended him during the transaction.
The CIAA Bardibas office has said that legal action has already been initiated against Sah. The case is being investigated further to determine the extent of his involvement in corruption.
