At least 12 people lost their lives in a powerful Israeli airstrike on Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley, an area near the Syrian border. According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA), seven of those killed were Syrian nationals, while eight others were injured in the attack.

The Israeli military claimed responsibility, saying the airstrike was aimed at a training center used by Hezbollah’s elite “Radwan Force.” In its statement, Israel said the facility was being used to plan and carry out terrorist operations.

This latest strike comes despite a ceasefire agreement signed in November between Israel and Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran. Under the terms of the deal, Hezbollah had agreed to pull its fighters north of the Litani River, while Israel was to withdraw its forces from all but five strategic locations. However, tensions have remained high, and the violence has continued on both sides.

The attack has further raised fears of escalating conflict in the region, as innocent civilians continue to be caught in the crossfire. Human rights groups have expressed concern about the ongoing violence and the growing number of casualties in both Lebanon and neighboring Syria.
