India Assures Support for Nepal’s 2026 Elections

Munu Mahawar, an Additional Secretary at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, met Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Tuesday at Singha Durbar to talk about different issues related to Nepal–India relations.

 

Nepal will hold its House of Representatives elections on March 5, 2026. India has already said it will help Nepal conduct the elections smoothly.

 

Earlier, in a meeting with Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Mahawar promised that India would provide the required resources and security support for the elections.

 

Mahawar arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for his visit to Nepal. According to the Home Minister’s Secretariat, he also offered India’s help in rebuilding Jajarkot after the earthquake and in repairing other structures damaged by disasters.

 

During the visit, Mahawar also invited Minister Aryal to visit India at a suitable time.
