A total of 100 political parties have applied to the Election Commission (EC) to take part in the proportional representation system for the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election, scheduled for March 5, 2026.

The deadline for party registration has passed, and the EC confirmed that 100 parties submitted their applications. Some of these parties are using joint election symbols, while others have their own individual symbols. The Commission will review all applications and finalize the list by December 12.

According to the election schedule, parties must submit their closed lists for the proportional system on December 28 and 29. After checking these lists, the EC will publish a preliminary list on January 18. The final list will be released on February 3, after handling any claims, objections, and necessary investigations.

Out of the 275 seats in the House of Representatives, 165 will be filled through the first-past-the-post system, and the remaining 110 will be elected through the proportional representation system.
