Kathmandu Gorkhas and Lumbini Lions will play today (Wednesday) in the eliminator match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) in Kathmandu. The game starts at 4 PM at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Kathmandu finished third in the league round, while Lumbini ended in fourth place to qualify for the eliminator. The winner of today’s match will face Biratnagar Kings in the second qualifier. Biratnagar lost the first qualifier to Sudurpaschim Royals by 77 runs, so they now have another chance to reach the final.
The team that loses today will be knocked out of the tournament, making this a must-win match for both sides. Kathmandu had earlier beaten Lumbini by 22 runs in the league stage.
Lumbini began the tournament with a win but then lost three matches in a row. After that, they made a comeback with three straight victories, finishing the league with 8 points from 7 matches.
Kathmandu won five of their seven games and earned 10 points, the same as Biratnagar. However, they ended up in third place because their net run rate was lower.
