The Ministry of Home Affairs has agreed to allow Kathmandu Metropolitan City to use the building located in Bhotahity that currently houses the Nepal Police Cyber Bureau.
According to the agreement, the land plots numbered 353, 354, and 355, measuring a total of 4 aana, 2 paisa, and 1 daam along with the building constructed on them, will be used by Kathmandu Metropolitan City. In exchange, the metropolis has agreed to register the land at Ramshah Path, where the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division is located, measuring 7 ropani, 2 paisa, and 3 daam, in the name of the Government of Nepal.
The decision was made during a meeting between the two sides held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, according to Under-Secretary Vartaraj Poudel. He stated that once the Ramshah Path land is registered in the government’s name, at least 8 aana of the total area will be allocated for the Samrakshan Company office, while the remaining land will be used by the Nepal Police Metropolitan Traffic Police Office, following necessary procedures.
Previously, Kathmandu Metropolitan City had requested to use the Bhotahity building, currently occupied by the Cyber Bureau, to operate a ward office. While the law assigns local governments the responsibility of protecting public and government land, its use requires coordination and agreement with the concerned authority, which is why approval was obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
