CPN-UML leader and former Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali has criticized the Nepali Congress for its response to recent unrest, calling out the party’s silence over the Bhadra 24 destructive incidents.
Gyawali, speaking via social media, suggested Congress appears to be providing political cover for violent acts, warning that legitimizing attacks on democracy, the constitution, and national institutions in the name of protests is dangerous.
While acknowledging public dissatisfaction and youth anger during the Bhadra 23 demonstrations, he called the Bhadra 24 events a national tragedy, condemning the use of youth as human shields and violent infiltrations in protests.
Gyawali highlighted public anger at the government, citing alleged corruption in the energy sector, poor treatment of the injured, and controversial ministerial decisions as key factors. He urged Congress leaders and activists not to justify destruction in the name of political dissent and stressed the need to resolve differences within the party responsibly.
