The government has spent only 9.17 percent of its total budget in the first two months of the ongoing fiscal year 2082/83, according to the Office of the Financial Comptroller General.

By the end of Bhadra, current expenditure stood at 9.67 percent, capital expenditure at just 1.56 percent, and financial management expenses at 15.89 percent. Out of the total Rs 19.64 trillion budget announced for this fiscal year, only Rs 180.17 billion has been spent so far.

On the revenue side, the government has collected just 10.43 percent of its target. Against the goal of Rs 15.33 trillion, only Rs 159.98 billion has been raised in the two-month period.

Economists have pointed out that both spending and revenue collection have been sluggish in the early months of the fiscal year. The particularly low rate of capital expenditure has raised concerns that development and infrastructure projects may face further delays.
