CPN-UML leader Gokul Baskota has expressed his dissatisfaction with recent remarks made by party chair KP Sharma Oli.

On Saturday, Baskota shared a post on Facebook saying that he has not forgotten his duty, responsibility, and political values.

In his post, he wrote that he does not care whether someone speaks the truth, creates conflict, or spreads confusion. He said he cannot forget his duty, responsibility, and principles. Baskota also stated that prejudice and revenge are not democratic values and that the ideas of late leader Madan Bhandari continue to guide his politics.

Baskota’s comments came after an interview of KP Sharma Oli was published in Kantipur on Thursday. In the interview, Oli said that party leaders Surendra Pandey and Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai are unlikely to win the upcoming election. He also said there is no strong basis for Pandey’s candidacy.

Oli further claimed that Baskota had created problems within the party by dividing workers in Kavre.

Responding to this, Baskota again emphasized that Madan Bhandari’s political philosophy remains his guiding principle.

Earlier, UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai also reacted carefully to Oli’s remarks. He said that the party’s main focus right now is winning the election. He added that he would speak in detail about the issue after the election scheduled for March 5.
