Dense fog has enveloped the Kathmandu Valley since early this morning. The partial influence of western winds has caused cloudiness, increasing the fog and cold in the valley. Reduced visibility is making it difficult to drive, and pedestrians are also struggling with the cold. Although the sun may appear during the day, the fog is unlikely to completely lift, which could further intensify the chill. Meteorologists note that pollution and dust in the valley may also prolong the fog.

The fog is expected to cause delays for domestic flights at Tribhuvan International Airport. In the Terai districts, thick fog and mist have disrupted daily life. Low visibility has increased the risk of road accidents, and schools continue to remain closed. According to meteorologists, cold conditions are likely to persist across the country for the next few days. With no immediate rainfall expected, the chill could intensify further. Light snowfall is also possible in higher hill and Himalayan regions.

Authorities have urged citizens to wear warm clothing, exercise caution while using fire for heating, and be extra careful when driving. Special attention is advised for the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses to protect against the cold.
