Janajagriti (Gen Z) representative Sudan Gurung on Thursday issued a stern warning that elections will not proceed unless the group’s demands are fully addressed. The statement came as structures operated by Khadka Land Pvt. Ltd. were being removed from Nepal Scout land in Lainchaur.
Gurung held Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal fully accountable, accusing him of ignoring repeated assurances to meet their demands during multiple meetings. “How can elections happen if our demands are ignored? The responsibility lies entirely with the Home Minister,” he said.
He warned that failure to address their concerns would trigger a stronger movement, emphasizing that any unrest resulting from ignored demands would fall squarely on the Home Minister’s shoulders. Gurung also called the government’s push for elections without fulfilling their demands a betrayal of trust.
This statement highlights rising tensions between Gen Z activists and authorities over pre-election demands and the handling of local disputes.
