The investigation commission formed to probe the Gen Z movement incidents has formally summoned former prime minister KP Sharma Oli for a statement.
The commission sent an official letter to Oli despite his public remarks questioning the need to appear before the panel. The move comes after the commission completed questioning former home minister Ramesh Lekhak. Following Lekhak’s statement, the probe panel led by former justice Gauri Bahadur Karki decided to seek Oli’s account.
Earlier, the commission had already recorded statements from Lekhak, senior security officials, and the then chief district officer of Kathmandu.
The government had formed the commission on Asoj 6 under Karki’s leadership, with former Nepal Police AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma and legal expert Bishweshwor Prasad Bhandari as members. Initially given a three-month mandate, the commission received a one-month extension after failing to complete its investigation within the original timeframe.
