A meeting of the Central Security Committee has begun at the Ministry of Home Affairs under the chairmanship of Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
According to the ministry, the meeting is reviewing recent social and religious incidents reported from different parts of the country and assessing the overall security situation. Discussions are also underway on security strategies for the upcoming elections.
The ministry said the meeting will specifically deliberate on the ongoing protests in Birgunj triggered by vandalism at a mosque in Dhanusha.
