The youth leaders behind Nepal’s recent Gen-Z movement, led by Miraj Dhungana, have announced that they will form a new political party but will not take part in elections until major political changes are made.
At a press meet in New Baneshwor on Friday, the group said their goal is to bring long-term reform, not just short-term politics. They want Nepal to adopt a direct executive system, where people can directly choose their national leader, and to ensure voting rights for Nepalis living abroad.
The new group said it will continue to push for good governance, corruption control, and job creation. Dhungana stressed that the movement will remain peaceful and focused on building a fair and developed Nepal.
He also criticized the government for failing to create enough jobs within the country, forcing many young people to work overseas. The group believes that reviving old industries, supporting tourism, and encouraging local production could help strengthen the economy.
For now, the leaders said they are holding talks to finalize the party’s name and structure, adding that their movement will continue outside the election process until their main demands are addressed.
