The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has directed banks and financial institutions to remain open throughout the Tihar holidays, except on the day of Bhai Tika, to ensure that trade, customs clearance, and essential transactions continue without disruption.
In a circular issued to Class A, B, and C financial institutions, the central bank instructed them to provide essential banking services during the festive period to maintain a steady flow of goods and support ongoing business operations.
To further facilitate interbank transactions, the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system will also remain operational on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., allowing real-time fund transfers and settlements.
The NRB’s move aims to prevent trade slowdowns during the festival week and ensure that import-export and payment activities proceed smoothly despite the holiday schedule.
