Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader Balen Shah stated that farmers are forced to dump milk and discard vegetables when they do not receive fair prices for their produce.

Addressing the Rally held in Chitwan, Shah alleged that limited middlemen and syndicates run by some leaders create artificial shortages and confusion in the market.

He emphasized the need to build affordable cold storage using locally produced cheap electricity. By storing vegetables when prices are low during the season and selling them at stable prices during high-demand periods, farmers would receive fair prices, and consumers would be able to buy goods at reasonable rates.

Shah said, “There is a problem in Chitwan where farmers are dumping milk and throwing away vegetables. This happens because they don’t have access to proper markets or fair prices. A few middlemen and syndicates of some leaders are responsible for creating this confusion. If we store seasonal vegetables using cheap electricity produced in Nepal, we can sell them at the same price during peak periods. Farmers will get fair value, and consumers can also buy at affordable prices. That’s what we aim to do.”

He further stated that most problems across the country are similar in nature, and solutions in agriculture and tourism sectors should rely on local resources and opportunities. “A problem in one district can be solved in another; RSP wants to be the party that understands and resolves such issues,” he added.

Shah also commented on the country’s industrial situation, noting that despite having machinery, workforce, and resources, many factories remain non-operational. He emphasized the need to operate factories at full capacity to increase production and create employment.

He clarified that RSP intends to expand industrial operations nationwide and bring Nepali products to international markets while addressing local challenges.
