The Election Commission has said it is actively taking action on complaints related to violations of the election code of conduct. Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that clarification has been sought in 188 cases, with responses received in 97. Action has been taken against three candidates and one political party, including fines of Rs 25,000 and formal warnings. Departmental action has also been recommended against a civil servant and a teacher.

At the district level, 1,076 complaints have been registered, with about 99 percent already settled. Most violations involve oversized banners and flags, misuse of social media, noise pollution, and the involvement of teachers and government employees in campaigning.

The Commission stated that the overall security situation across the country is satisfactory, allowing parties to campaign freely and voters to participate without fear. It has recommended regulating alcohol sales, closing border points 72 hours before voting, and restricting public vehicles on election day.

So far, 11 political parties and 1,670 candidates have opened mandatory bank accounts for transparent campaign spending, and 43 parties have submitted their manifestos. The Commission has also flagged 612 misleading social media posts, many reportedly created using artificial intelligence.

Voting materials have been dispatched nationwide, polling staff training is in its final stage, and vote counting is expected to begin on the evening of election day where possible.
