Authorities have lifted the curfew in parts of Birgunj but imposed an overnight prohibitory order banning gatherings and rallies.

The curfew imposed in some areas of Birgunj Metropolitan City in Parsa has been lifted by the administration. A meeting of the District Security Committee concluded that the security situation was improving and decided to lift the curfew from 4:30 pm today (Friday).
According to Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, the curfew, which had been in effect since 9:45 am on Falgun 11, was lifted based on the agreement of an all-party meeting and a security assessment. The administration stated that as the situation has gradually been returning to normal, it was no longer necessary to continue the curfew.
However, stating that the situation has not yet fully come under control, the administration has issued a prohibitory order from 6:00 pm today until 6:00 am tomorrow. During this period, any kind of gatherings, public meetings, rallies, and demonstrations will not be allowed.
The restricted areas under the prohibitory order are defined as follows:
East: Bypass Road
West: Ranighat Bridge
North: Powerhouse Chowk
South: Ghantaghar Chowk
The local administration has warned that anyone violating the order will face strict action in accordance with the Local Administration Act, 2028 (1971). It has also urged all sides to understand the sensitivity of the situation and maintain social harmony.
Meanwhile, security personnel presence has been intensified in sensitive areas of the metropolitan city.
