The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index went up slightly on Monday. It increased by 2.41 points and closed at 2,616.97. However, the total amount of money traded in the market went down.

The trading amount fell from Rs 6.69 billion on Sunday to Rs 5.13 billion on Monday. Even though prices moved up and down during the day, six groups (sub-sectors) ended with gains, helping the index rise a little.

The sectors that gained were commercial banks, development banks, finance companies, investment companies, life insurance, and others. Development banks had the highest increase, rising by 0.90%. On the other hand, seven sectors fell, with mutual funds dropping the most by 0.41%.

Looking at individual companies, 140 stocks went down in price, while 113 stocks increased, and 9 stayed the same. Salpa Development Bank had the biggest gain, rising by 9.99%, followed by Reliance Spinning Mills, which rose by 9.28%.

Among the most traded companies, Aankhukhola Hydropower had the highest transactions worth Rs 362 million. It was followed by Ridi Power with Rs 321.9 million and SY Panel Company with Rs 287.8 million in trading.
