Highlighting progress made in a short span, Communications and Information Technology Minister Jagdish Kharel has unveiled the key achievements of his ministry during the past three months.

 

Speaking at a press conference in Singha Durbar on Sunday, Minister Kharel shared 30 major accomplishments in telecommunications, information technology, postal services, printing and film sectors, saying the results were delivered despite multiple challenges. He pledged continued honest and committed work in the coming days.

 

Among the notable achievements are the launch of online registration and renewal services, printing of driving licences from the security printing press, expansion of communication access in remote areas, and extension of 4G services up to the Sagarmatha Base Camp. The ministry also launched NTV World, declared late journalist Suresh Rajak a martyr, published Kulung-language content in Gorkhapatra, and provided free internet at 10 public locations in the Kathmandu Valley, with Wi-Fi expansion planned in 29 places outside the Valley.

 

Minister Kharel also said the government is preparing to register and list online television platforms to strengthen professional security and institutional growth, assuring that online media would receive state incentives on par with mainstream outlets.
