Cold Wave Disrupts Life In Mahottari

A cold wave that has persisted for five days in Mahottari district is severely disrupting daily activities. The dropping temperatures have led to reduced movement, with fewer people seen in the district headquarters, Jaleshwor. 

The cold, along with fog and cloud cover, is also affecting livestock and crops.Transportation has been significantly affected, with fewer vehicles on the roads. The sharp drop in temperature is especially challenging for children, the elderly, and women in postpartum.

Health facilities in the district, including the district health office and local hospitals, have reported a noticeable decline in patient visits. In an effort to stay warm, many locals have been resorting to lighting fires.
