A deadly wildfire in Los Angeles, California, has claimed at least 10 lives and destroyed more than 10,000 structures, making it one of the most destructive fires in the area’s history.

The fires, which began early Tuesday morning in the Pacific Palisades area, located in the Santa Monica Mountains, have forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate.

The wildfires, fueled by strong winds, dry trees, and the Santa Ana winds, have made containment efforts difficult. Firefighters are also facing a water shortage while trying to control the blaze.

An emergency has been declared in Los Angeles, with more than 27,000 people in Pacific Palisades and 32,500 in Eaton ordered to evacuate.

The Pacific Palisades fire is now the most destructive in the region’s history. Celebrities, including Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, Billy Crystal, and Paris Hilton, have seen their homes destroyed, while stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Mandy Moore, and Maria Shriver were among those evacuated.

The White House has instructed officials to assess and address the emergency situation, and aircraft and fire trucks are being deployed to assist with the firefighting efforts.
