Former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha has been finalized as the next Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs by Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The ministry, previously overseen by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, will now be entrusted to Sinha once formal appointment procedures are completed.

Sinha, a respected legal expert in taxation and corporate law, began his career in 2039 B.S. after graduating from Nepal Law Campus. He later became a senior advocate before his appointment to the Supreme Court on 17 Shrawan 2073 B.S., serving until his retirement on 14 Kartik 2080 B.S. upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65.

During his seven years on the Supreme Court, Sinha contributed to several landmark cases, including the eligibility dispute of former CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki, the 5 Poush 2077 B.S. dissolution of the House of Representatives by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and controversies surrounding the Tax Settlement Commission. He was also part of the bench that allowed investigation into the Lalita Niwas land scam in Baluwatar.

Sinha’s appointment is expected to bring experienced legal oversight to the interim government as it navigates ongoing judicial and parliamentary challenges.
