More than 1.14 million foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2024, marking a significant recovery in tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 11,047,024 tourists entered the country in the year 2024. This is the highest number of visitors since the pandemic disrupted global travel in 2020.
The 2024 tourism figures show a 14% increase compared to 2023. In comparison, 1.197 million tourists visited Nepal in 2019. The surge in arrivals is attributed to various events, including the Nepal Premier League, Global Buddhist Summit, International Balloon Festival, and the Dragon Boat Festival. As of the latest data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Nepal's post-pandemic tourism has revived by 96%.
