With 90 Days Left, Election Commission Speeds Up Poll Preparations

With just 90 days remaining until the March 5 House of Representatives election, the Election Commission and political parties have accelerated their preparations.

The Commission will start the proportional representation process from Saturday, with parties required to file applications for the PR category on December 7. The list of applicants will be published on December 10. Parties must submit their closed PR lists on December 28 and 29, while the final PR list will be released on February 13, spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said.

For the first-past-the-post seats, nominations will be filed on January 19, followed by complaints on January 20. The updated candidate list will be published on January 21, and withdrawals allowed on January 22. Final candidates and election symbols will be assigned the same day.
