The CPN-UML will conduct its upcoming leadership election using electronic voting machines (EVMs) as preparations intensify for the party’s 11th National General Convention.
Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said the party chose EVMs to ensure quick and efficient voting, adding that the tender process to select the supplier is already underway. The UML had previously used EVMs during its 10th Convention in Chitwan.
The convention will elect 15 office-bearers and a 251-member Central Committee, following a recent decision to reduce the committee size.
About 2,200 delegates are expected to participate in the three-day event scheduled for December 13–15 in Kathmandu, with the closed session to be held at Bhrikutimandap.
